Josh Gordon would reportedly attract ‘a great deal of interest’ if reinstated

Josh-Gordon

In news that shouldn’t be too terribly surprising, suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon would reportedly attract plenty of interest if reinstated.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman spoke to several sources within numerous NFL front offices and found that many teams would be willing to take a chance on the receiver.

The reasons are twofold. One, teams don’t view Gordon’s transgressions as dealbreakers, and that he’s repeatedly used a drug that in the eyes of many shouldn’t even be illegal.

“He’s not Greg Hardy,” one assistant GM told Freeman.

The other reason is that teams believe they can rehabilitate Gordon’s career and, at the age of 25, firmly believe that he could be a top receiver if given a year or two to flourish. He’s generally viewed as worth the risk.

Freeman hears that Gordon has improved his attitude and cut out some friends that were bad influences on him, though that apparently doesn’t include Johnny Manziel. The Browns still hold Gordon’s rights, though it’s unclear what they’d do with him if he were reinstated – which many teams reportedly believe he will be.

Gordon’s most recent application for reinstatement was denied, reportedly due to another failed drug test. He can apply again on August 1.
