Report: Josh Gordon in rehab for alcohol, is suspended indefinitely
Josh Gordon was scheduled to have his four-game suspension lifted on Monday, but the Cleveland Browns wide receiver remains suspended indefinitely until the NFL reviews his case further.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that Gordon will stay on the suspended list “pending further notice” from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Cabot also reports that Gordon decided to check himself into an inpatient treatment facility last week so he can address an issue with alcohol addiction. That is consistent with a previous report that indicated Gordon decided to seek help after having a “slip-up” that likely would have resulted in a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
Gordon’s future in Cleveland — and perhaps the NFL in general — looks quite grim at the moment. Between his reported struggles with alcohol addiction and the paternity test drama surrounding him, it seems like football should be the furthest thing from Gordon’s mind.
