Josh McCown gets 1-year, $6 million deal with Jets

Josh McCown

Josh McCown is heading to the Jets.

The veteran QB agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Jets that will pay him $6 million guaranteed, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

McCown, who will be 38 when the season begins, is hardly a reason for the Jets to get excited. He passed for 1,100 yards, 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions last season with the Browns while struggling to stay healthy. The year before that he passed for 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions for Cleveland.

McCown can show some competency and move the ball as a starter, but you’re not going to win many games with him leading your team.

The Jets now have McCown under contract for 2017 in addition to quarterbacks Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg. Geno Smith signed with the Giants.
