Josh McDaniels to meet with Colts to set franchise plans

Josh McDaniels

Josh McDaniels is doing some double-duty ahead of the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots offensive coordinator is set to meet with the Indianapolis Colts on Friday, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. He says the two sides are meeting to set plans for the franchise once McDaniels takes over as head coach following the Super Bowl.

This will be McDaniels’ second head coaching opportunity. The 41-year-old had an unsuccessful stint as head coach of the Denver Broncos which ended with him being fired in 2010 in the middle of his second season with the team. He returned to the Patriots two seasons after his firing by Denver and has been with New England since 2012 as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

The Patriots are set to lose both of their coordinators to head coaching jobs after the season. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is heading to the Detroit Lions.
