Report: Josh McDaniels will not be in Indianapolis for Scouting Combine
If New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels were to attend this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, he would be showing his face in a region of the country where people probably don’t like him very much. As it turns out, he is apparently not planning to do that.
But not for the reason you think. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, McDaniels will not be at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the combine this week. That supposedly has nothing to do with him bailing on the Colts.
As teams descend on Indy for the Combine, #Patriots offensive coaches, including Josh McDaniels, are not expected to attend, I’m told. When they go deep into the playoffs, this is their standard plan. Coaches always hang back. Bill Belichick & maybe 1/2 defensive coaches will go

Even if standard procedure for the Patriots called for McDaniels being present, you have to wonder if they would have altered their plans. As you know, McDaniels was all set to become the next head coach of the Colts before he had a change of heart. Fans in Indy are sure to let him hear about it for the rest of his coaching career, and they probably would have started with the combine.
Colts general manager Chris Ballard got Twitter buzzing with a cheesy comment he made after the McDaniels saga, and you know plenty of fans feel the same way.
