Josh Norman not expected to shadow Dez Bryant

Josh Norman

The last time the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys met, Dez Bryant caught seven passes for 102 yards en route to his team’s 27-23 victory. Josh Norman did not shadow Bryant in that game, so surely the Redskins will want him to on Thursday, right?

Not necessarily.

Rich Tandler of CSNMidAtlantic.com does not expect Norman to follow Bryant around the field on Thanksgiving. As he has done in the past, Norman will likely stick to one side of the field.

After the Redskins were torched by Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown in Week 1, Dez Bryant took a not-so-subtle jab at his division rival. That didn’t inspire Washington to change its defensive approach, and it wasn’t until Norman was called out by a New York Giants player that he ended up shadowing a star receiver.

Redskins No. 2 cornerback Bashaud Breeland has been torched with regularity this season. While the team would love to stick with its preferred defensive scheme of keeping Norman on the left side of the field, don’t be surprised if he starts following Bryant around if things don’t go to plan.
