Julio Jones’ foot injury will reportedly keep him out for the season

Julio-Jones-FalconsAtlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is reportedly in danger of missing the remainder of the 2013 season with a foot injury. The news was first reported on Tuesday by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Jones apparently suffered a broken foot in a loss to the New York Jets on Monday night. He is scheduled to receive a second opinion on Wednesday and the team is hopeful the news will be different, but Glazer claims they are not optimistic.

Roddy White, who has been dealing with a high ankle sprain all season long, injured his hamstring in Monday night’s loss. He left the game and did not return, though it is unclear how severe his latest injury is.

It goes without saying that the Falcons are in horrendous shape at the moment. Their loss to the Jets dropped them to 1-4 on the season, and their receiving corps has been completely derailed by injuries. Without Jones, White will be far less effective even if he plays. Without Jones and White, Matt Ryan’s only reliable target would be tight end Tony Gonzalez.
