Julio Jones dealing with turf toe
The Atlanta Falcons are fighting to hold onto their lead in the NFC South after a tough loss on Sunday, and they are hoping their most explosive playmaker can battle through his latest injury.
Julio Jones, who has dealt with a number of minor injuries this season, was hobbled late in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Falcons head coach Dan Quinn revealed on Monday that Jones is battling turf toe.

While turf toe sounds very minor, it can be a nagging injury that is tough to get over. That could be a problem for a player like Jones, who relies on burst and leaping ability to win battles against opposing defensive backs. For what it’s worth, Jones downplayed the injury on Sunday.
“It’s football,” he told reporters,. “You’re going to get banged up. You’re going to get little nagging injuries here and there from the game. I’m OK. I’ll be good to go.”
Jones had seven catches for 113 yards in the game, but he was not thrown to in the fourth quarter. He ended up watching a number of plays from the sidelines and was seen limping around.
The Falcons will be looking to bounce back in a big way next weekend against the Los Angeles Rams after they lost to Kansas City in a truly remarkable way. Having a healthy Jones on the field would be a big help.
