Kam Chancellor returning to Seahawks, can’t let Marshawn Lynch down

Kam Chancellor Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor is reportedly set to return to the team without a new deal.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that his colleague Stephen A. Smith received a text message from Chancellor Wednesday morning that read as follows:

“Ima go help my teammates that are understanding of my position and the ones who aren’t. God forgives all, why can’t i? Time to help us get back to the big dance. I can address business after the season. Me and Marshawn (Lynch) started a mission 2 years ago. I can’t let my Dawg down….Real talk.”

As Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports notes, the Seahawks had said previously that they were not going to forgive the fines Chancellor has had to pay during his holdout. He has lost roughly $2.1 million between fines and his his $267,941 game check for each of the first two weeks of the season. However, it is possible that the Seahawks will change their stance or reduce the fine, especially if they are not going to sign Chancellor to a new deal.

Seattle’s front office has not budged to this point despite an 0-2 start. Team owner Paul Allen is said to have thrown his support behind general manager John Schneider and his refusal to give in to Chancellor’s demands.

When you see what Marshawn Lynch did at practice earlier this season, you get a sense of the relationship between him and Chancellor. The veteran safety must be itching to play football while watching his team struggle.
