Kam Chancellor was ‘surprised’ he got run over by Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott showed some serious power in his team’s preseason game Thursday night, and one of the veterans who was on the receiving end did not see it coming.

Kam Chancellor, who failed to tackle Elliott at least twice, told reporters after the game that he was “surprised” by the former Ohio State star’s explosiveness.

“I was (surprised) because there was no film on him,” Chancellor said, per Jayson Jenks of The Seattle Times. “I didn’t know if he was going to juke me or not, so I was a little surprised. But not the second time. Second time you know I’m bringing that wood. I was a little surprised the first time, but he has a lot of courage for that. I’ll give it to him. But if it was a full game, it would have been a bloodbath.”

Chancellor was seeing his first preseason action because of a groin injury, so it’s possible the Seattle Seahawks safety was a bit slow. Still, it’s impressive that Elliott was able to truck one of the hardest hitters in the league.

If Elliott runs through holes like that all season behind the Cowboys’ tremendous offensive line, he’ll be incredibly tough to stop. While Elliott has already dealt with some serious off-field drama, Dallas fans have to be excited by what they saw on Thursday.
