Khalil Mack expected to play in Bears’ opener

Khalil Mack hasn’t had a preseason, but nobody with the Chicago Bears seems to believe that will preclude him from being ready to face the Green Bay Packers in Week 1.

The newly-acquired Chicago Bears defensive end was introduced to the Chicago media on Sunday, and he made clear that in his mind, he’s ready to play in the season opener.

Obviously, this is only Mack talking, and the Bears will have the final say on his readiness once they’ve had the chance to evaluate him. That said, head coach Matt Nagy certainly sounded bullish on the possibility.

Mack’s trade is done and he’s signed a record deal, so all that’s left to do is get him on the field. There was some thinking that the lack of training camp could mean the Bears hold him out for a week, but it appears that they want to go full speed ahead.
