Kyle Shanahan reportedly granted release from Browns

Kyle-Shanahan-Browns

Kyle Shanahan clearly has no interest in helping Johnny Manziel become a competent NFL starting quarterback.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Shanahan asked for his release from the Cleveland Browns this week. The team granted it.

The Browns have also reportedly fired quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains, indicating that they are looking to completely overhaul their offensive coaching staff.

Earlier this week, a report indicated that Shanahan and the Browns may be at odds over Manziel. Although Brian Hoyer struggled mightily for a string of games before he was benched in favor of Manziel, Shanahan and some of the other Browns coaches felt ownership forced them into making a quarterback change.

The interesting thing to watch now will be whether Kyle’s father, Mike Shanahan, lands a head coaching job for the 2015 season. There has been some speculation that Kyle is interested in working for his dad again like he did in Washington, where the Shanahans had some success with Robert Griffin III before it all went south.
