Lamarcus Joyner played first two games on broken toe

Lamarcus-Joyner

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Lamarcus Joyner suffered a broken toe during his team’s Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but he has not missed any time because of it.

Joyner, who broke the second toe on his left foot during the first half against the Niners, said he chose not to say anything to the training staff until after the game.

“I knew I had to be accountable to the defense, so I just kept my mouth closed and kept playing,” he said, via Greg Beacham of The Associated Press. “I just strapped on my cleats and I played, man. I know it was an important game to us. If you just think about 2014, that draft, how Coach Fisher … gave up a pick for me, all that kind of stuff just ran in my mind. They’ve made a lot of sacrifices for me, so I can fight through something like this.”

Joyner has played 134 of 148 snaps through the first two games, and he expects to be a full-go again when the Rams take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday. Head coach Jeff Fisher said he is not surprised by the former Florida State star’s toughness.

“That’s why we drafted him,” Fisher said. “We watched him for a couple of years there at Florida State, and he’s one of those guys. He shows it every day.”

Wait, is this the same Joyner who brought us one of the most dramatic moments of the latest season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks?” Apparently he has had a serious change of heart.
