Landry Jones carted off with foot injury, Roethlisberger forced into action

Ben RoethlisbergerThe Pittsburgh Steelers took a chance and put Ben Roethlisberger on the active roster for Sunday’s game against Cleveland, setting him as Landry Jones’s backup. On the first drive of the game, Jones was injured, and Roethlisberger was forced into action.

Jones appeared to roll his ankle on a third down play. He had to be helped off the field and then carted to the locker room. With Roethlisberger the only other active quarterback, he was put in just a week after suffering a foot injury of his own that was originally supposed to keep him out for a few weeks. Michael Vick, while healthy, was left inactive.

Here’s a look at the play that knocked Jones out of the game.

Jones was considered questionable to return. In case you’re wondering who would play quarterback if Roethlisberger aggravated his injury, it would be tight end Heath Miller.
