Larry Fitzgerald noncommittal about playing in 2017

Could Larry Fitzgerald’s illustrious NFL career be coming to an end?

After the Arizona Cardinals’ 48-41 loss to New Orleans on Sunday, Fitzgerald refused to commit to playing in 2017, instead deferring the question to the offseason.

“I got two more games to go,” Fitzgerald said, via Kyle Odegard of the team’s official website. “I will play those games as hard as I can against two division opponents and we will see what goes on this offseason. My attention is solely focused on Seattle this Saturday.”

Fitzgerald might just be putting off a final decision, but this isn’t the first retirement report we’ve heard this season. He’s likely going to rack up another hundred catch season, so he’s still playing at a high level, but that may not matter if he decides he’s had enough. He is under contract for 2017.

The 33-year-old has been in the league since 2004 and made nine Pro Bowls. He is likely to make it a 10th Pro Bowl season as his 98 catches lead the league. He also has 949 yards and five TDs this season.
