LeRoy Butler: Favre mixture of ‘Wolverine, RoboCop and Superman’

Brett-Favre

Brett Favre was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame on Saturday and, to no one’s surprise, he received a massive ovation from the crowd at Lambeau Field when he was introduced.

Great stories were told during the evening, including one Favre shared about Andy Reid, who was once an assistant coach with Green Bay. Earlier in the week, LeRoy Butler, who spent his entire NFL career with the Packers, recalled when Favre injured his throwing arm, leading Butler to think there was no way Favre would play the following week.

“That thing was yellow, green, orange and brown,” Butler said via ESPN. “I said, ‘Dude, you can’t play next week.'”

“He looked at me and said, ‘Roy Lee — that’s what he called me — there ain’t a damn thing wrong with my arm,'” Butler said. “He said, ‘There ain’t nothing wrong with the chicken wing.'”

From 1992 through 2010, Favre played in an NFL record 297 consecutive games, an unbelievable number considering how often quarterbacks are hit and knocked down. Favre was revered because of his durability. Butler, apparently, isn’t even sure his former teammate is human.

“I don’t think he’s human,” said Butler. “Whenever it’s his time to leave this earth, I want to see the X-rays. I don’t believe it. He’s not human. I’m telling you the guy’s a mixture of Wolverine, RoboCop and Superman.”

That would make for a pretty impressive superhero, which is how Favre is looked at by many throughout Wisconsin.
