Report: Le’Veon Bell likely out for season with torn MCL

Vontaze Burfict LeVeon Bell

The Pittsburgh Steelers were said to be optimistic about the extent of Le’Veon Bell’s knee injury, but it still sounds like the running back could be out for a while.

Steelers Depot first reported that Bell has a torn MCL and is out for the season. Adam Schefter agreed with the report and says Bell has a “badly torn” MCL but will be re-evaluated Monday.

Perhaps the strongest sign of Bell’s injury is that Schefter says the Steelers are going to give Isaiah Pead a tryout.

The Steelers played the first two games of the season without Bell, who was suspended, and went 1-1. DeAngelo Williams is a very good backup option, but very few backs are on the level of Bell, who was an offensive force last season and this year. Just when the Steelers thought the season was looking up because they got Ben Roethlisberger back, this happens.
