Le’Veon Bell says he is completely recovered from knee surgery

Le'Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell doesn’t know yet whether he’ll be eligible to return to NFL action in Week 1 or Week 5, but whenever that’s decided, he believes he’ll be at 100 percent.

The Pittsburgh Steelers running back says he is fully recovered from surgery to repair torn ligaments in his knee suffered in November. He says his knee is not swelling or having any setbacks, and he says he has regained his full speed.

“I felt I got all my speed back,” Bell said from Steelers camp via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “I wasn’t even thinking about my knee at all [Friday]. … That’s the point I wanted to get to.”

Bell has been a star for the Steelers since being drafted in the second round in 2013. He posted over 2,200 combined yards in 2014 and scored 11 touchdowns. In limited action last season because of the knee injury and a suspension, Bell posted a combined 692 yards and two touchdowns.

The Steelers are awaiting word on a four-game suspension for Bell, which the running back is determined to beat in an appeal. The good news is he should be 100 percent when he does become eligible to play, and also that they have DeAngelo Williams, who scored 11 touchdowns last season playing in place of Bell.
