Le’Veon Bell trying to prevent Steelers from trading him?

Le’Veon Bell still has not informed the Pittsburgh Steelers of when he plans to show up for work, and that may have something to do with all the trade talk surrounding the star running back.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers still had not heard from Bell as of Sunday, and there is a belief that he could wait to report until after the Oct. 30 trade deadline because he does not want to be moved. Bell still is not technically under contract with the Steelers since he has not signed the franchise tender, and they would not be able to complete a trade involving him unless he signed it.

Schefter notes that Pittsburgh is not actively trying to trade Bell, but the team has not ruled it out. Bell has not generated a ton of interest because of his situation, however.

There were initially reports that Bell would report to the Steelers during their bye this past week, but that did not happen. He likely does not want to be traded because he would prefer to become a free agent next offseason and choose his next team, though some comments we heard from Steelers owner Art Rooney II on Sunday seem to indicate Bell will remain in Pittsburgh for the immediate future.
