Mark Sanchez was reportedly furious with Jets GM John Idzik after injury

Mark SanchezSome would argue that New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez lost his job because of poor play. Others would say he lost it because of an injured shoulder and would be starting if healthy. Whatever the case, Sanchez was reportedly furious with the way he got hurt.

According to the NY Post, an “irate” Sanchez shouted at Jets general manager John Idzik after the last preseason game when he hurt his shoulder. Witnesses reportedly said the former USC star was furious that the team put him on the field in the final minutes of a meaningless game. Sources also told the Post that there has been tension between Sanchez and the Jets since that incident.

Fortunately for Rex Ryan, the Jets are off to a surprising 3-2 start on the season and are coming off a huge win over the Atlanta Falcons. Geno Smith has turned the ball over too much, but he seems to be improving and made strides on Monday night. With Sanchez injured, Ryan doesn’t need to give us anymore animated press conferences like this.

Obviously, Ryan did not expect Sanchez to suffer a significant injury in the fourth preseason game. Smith had not played well at that point and the starting quarterback situation was still murky. The game was may have been meaningless on many levels, but Sanchez was likely playing for his job. It just so happened that the situation worked itself out in an unfortunate manner.
