Marqise Lee reportedly fighting with cemetery to move brother’s body

Marqise Lee was merely a teenager when his brother Terreal Reid was shot and killed, and the Jaguars wide receiver has reportedly found himself in a dispute over Reid’s remains more than 10 years later.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Lee is petitioning a court in Los Angeles to allow him to “disinter the remains of his brother,” who died in 2006. Reid was buried in what is called a “multiple plot” grave with five other bodies at the Angeles Abbey Memorial Park in Compton, and Lee wants his brother moved to his own plot.

The documents state that Lee’s family only chose a multiple plot in 2006 because they could not afford a single. Now, presumably because Lee is enjoying a successful NFL career, they want that changed.

Oscar Olivos, the owner of Angeles Abbey cemetery, told TMZ that families sign contracts that prevent disinterment and said “we do not allow removal after burial because it will disturb the other members.” Lee says the cemetery will only move Reid’s body with a court order.

We certainly don’t have any experience with this type of thing, but it would be somewhat of a surprise if Lee wins the dispute.
