Report: Marshawn Lynch could leave Seahawks after season

Marshawn Lynch Seahawks

Marshawn Lynch may have reportedly played his final game for the Seahawks already, as the two sides are reportedly heading for a split after the season.

Lynch recently underwent surgery for a groin injury, and it is uncertain whether he will return this season. What seems entirely possible, however, is that the Seahawks will move on when the season ends, according to CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora.

Lynch is nearing 30 years old, has endured a very heavy workload over the years with a very physical style of running, and his guaranteed money is already paid out. Seattle has a growing core of expensive players, and financially, it simply may not be plausible to retain Lynch.

Seattle’s decision may be made easier by the fact that undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls has very ably stepped in while Lynch has been hurt.

Lynch has been synonymous with the Seahawks during their period of success, but it may well be time for both parties to move on.
