Report: Matt Patricia will not face discipline from NFL over sexual assault case
Matt Patricia may not have disclosed to the Detroit Lions that he was involved in a sexual assault case many years ago, but the NFL has decided the new information does not warrant any type of fine or suspension.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday that neither Patricia nor the Lions will be subject to any disciplinary action from the league.
NFL determined that neither the Lions nor Matt Patricia will be subject to any discipline in regards to previous allegations made against Detroit’s HC, per sources. The league met last week with the Lions and Patricia.

Patricia was indicted on a sexual assault charge in 1996, but the case never went to trial. He said he did not mention it to the Lions because it never came up during the interview process, and even his college coach claimed to have no knowledge of the case.
The Lions recently explained how they followed all laws and protocols while vetting Patricia for their head coaching job. While the NFL still technically could have fined or suspended Patricia, this always seemed like the most likely result.
