Matthew Stafford mic’d up went nuts on pass interference call (Video)

Matthew Stafford was mic’d up by NFL Films for Sunday’s NFC wild-card playoff game between the Lions and Cowboys, which means we got to hear his reaction to the referees picking up the pass interference penalty called in the fourth quarter. As you could imagine, Stafford was plenty ticked.

“Inside the NFL” aired the video and it shows Stafford disgusted and complaining to the refs. He’s stomping around the field and yelling that the call was “unbelievable.”

“I’ve never in the history seen one turned over,” Stafford says of the penalty.

The whole scenario actually reminds me of the BCS National Championship Game between Miami and Ohio State when a referee decided to THROW a penalty flag several seconds after the play ended. Miami had already celebrated winning the national championship and was told “wait, the game isn’t over yet!”

For both teams that got screwed by delayed decisions, the outcome was the same: a defeat.

We think the Cowboys-Lions penalty was a matter of home cookin, just like Stafford said.
