Melvin Gordon carted off field with hip injury
San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon left Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers with what appeared to be a serious injury.
Gordon was trying to recover what he thought was a fumble from Philip Rivers when he was rolled up on by a defender. He was unable to put any weight on the injured leg and had to be carted off the field. The team later announced that the former Wisconsin star injured his hip.
Gordon was enjoying a breakout season prior to going down. He already has 992 rushing yards and has added 419 yards receiving. He has scored 10 rushing touchdowns and has 12 scores total.
More importantly, Gordon has seemingly solved the issues he had during his rookie season. For a team that has already lost star wide receiver Keenan Allen for the season, another long-term injury would be devastating.
