Michael Vick wants to play another season, ‘go out with a bang’

Michael-Vick

The official start of training camp is just around the corner, and Michael Vick remains unemployed. The 36-year-old veteran is hoping that changes at some point before Week 1.

While speaking to the media at the Ron Jaworski Celebrity Golf Challenge on Monday, Vick made it clear that he does not intend to retire just yet.

“I haven’t officially retired,” he said, per Jordan Raanan of NJ.com. “As of right now, it’s pretty much at a stalemate type of thing. Just taking the days as it comes, but most importantly for me, I just have to continue to work out and train. I would love to play this year, suit up for another run at it. I still feel like I could play and there is a lot left in the tank.”

Vick spent the 2015 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in five games. He did not play particularly well and proved incapable of making easy throws. Despite the fact that he says 2016 will be his last season, he is still waiting for “the right offer.”

“I don’t want it to end the way it ended the last couple years,” Vick said. “Playing another year is very important just for my psyche, just to get it out of my system, to go out with a bang.”

Obviously, Vick’s only chance is to sign with a team as a veteran backup. He already made it seem as though he is not going to be aggressive in pursuing an opportunity to play, so we wouldn’t be surprised if no one comes calling.
