Mike Evans: Johnny Manziel gave great speech at my wedding
Johnny Manziel attended the wedding of Mike Evans over the weekend, and it sounds like the Cleveland Browns quarterback was a big part of the festivities.
Evans, who was teammates with Manziel at Texas A&M, told TMZ on Tuesday that Manziel was one of his groomsmen and proposed a toast to the bride and groom.
“He had one of the best speeches,” Evans said. “He seems good. I was just happy he was there.”
Evans wisely avoided any questions about Manziel partying or drinking, instead saying he was too busy “doing my own thing” to notice if Manziel had a drink in his hand.
“He seemed good. He had a good time,” Evans added. “I got his back, that’s all he needs to know. It’s none of my business.”
Manziel was spotted in some photos from Evans’ wedding, and it appeared he was having himself a good time. There were no videos — at least that we know of — that showed Manziel partying it up the way he was at a bar during the AFC Championship Game.
The Browns are expected to release Manziel when the new league year begins in a couple weeks. It would appear that the disturbing allegations Manziel’s ex-girlfriend made against him were the last straw for the team, assuming they weren’t already planning to cut him.
