Chargers’ Mike McCoy reportedly coaching for his job next two games
San Diego Chargers coach Mike McCoy is reportedly coaching for his job during the next two games.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, McCoy will take his Chargers to Oakland on Sunday and then to host the Denver Broncos on Thursday. If he fails to win either game and the Chargers drop to 1-5, he could be out the door.
Some in the organization were surprised that no change was made after the team’s most recent loss to New Orleans.
It was after that defeat that McCoy had some very strong words for his team. They’ve blown late fourth quarter leads three times this season, so it’s not as if the team has been outclassed in every minute of every game. However, performances have been poor, and for a coach that may not last beyond the season anyway, that’s a really bad thing.
