Report: Mike Mularkey’s job with Titans now safe
Mike Mularkey may have bought himself another year as the Tennessee Titans’ head coach thanks to Saturday’s playoff victory.
The Titans came back from down 21-3 at the half to the Kansas City Chiefs and won 22-21 to advance to the divisional round of the postseason. There was talk before the game that Mularkey was in danger of being fired if his team lost.
Following the win, Titans reporter Jason Wolf said Mularkey’s job is safe.
I'm told Mike Mularkey's job is secure, in case there was any question. #Titans

Mularkey also was critical of the reports about his job security, dismissing them as “ridiculous.”

Saturday’s playoff win for the Titans was nice, but unless they continue to make a deep postseason run, a change of direction would make sense. The Titans only went 9-7 during the regular season and did not live up to expectations. They barely limped into the playoffs. Marcus Mariota seemed to regress.
Unless Mularkey takes the team to the conference championship game, I’d like to see Tennessee bring in a coach who can do more with Mariota.
