Mike Zimmer: Adrian Peterson is ‘probably ahead of schedule’

Adrian Peterson

Tuesday brought some more good news for those crossing their fingers for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to return to the field before the end of the season.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters that Peterson is progressing well in his recovery from knee surgery.

“He’s doing good. He’s doing good,” Zimmer said, per Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “He’s probably ahead of schedule, I guess.”

Vensel also noted that the former MVP was spotted running short sprints during Vikings practice on Tuesday and that Zimmer mentioned it wasn’t the first day that Peterson had resumed running.

Peterson, 31, has been out since hurting his right knee in a Week 2 win over the Green Bay Packers (video here). There had been some chatter recently that Peterson could return some time in December, and with nothing but positive updates since, the 6-5 Vikings could be in line for a big-time power-up as they battle for their playoffs lives these next several weeks.
