Report: NaVorro Bowman agrees to deal with Raiders

NaVorro Bowman

Veteran linebacker NaVorro Bowman visited with the Raiders on Monday, and Oakland was apparently the only stop he needed to make before finding a new home.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Bowman has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Raiders.

There were reports over the weekend that Bowman would visit Oakland before meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, but he has cancelled the latter trip.

Bowman spent the first six-plus seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before being released last week, so signing with the Raiders will allow him to stay close to home. It will also give the 29-year-old an opportunity to play for a contending team, though Oakland has lost four straight games.

The 49ers reportedly agreed to trade Bowman to one team before they released him, but they wanted to give the linebacker the chance to pick his own destination. Bowman did just that, and he made the choice rather quickly.
