NFL denies report that Tom Coughlin met with Bills ownership
The NFL is swiftly denying reports that Tom Coughlin met with Buffalo Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula over the weekend.
Sal Maiorana of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reported that there was some sort of meeting between Coughlin and the Pegulas, with rumors gaining steam over the weekend. As the league is Coughlin’s current employer, the denial came quickly from a league spokesperson.
“This meeting did not happen,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told ProFootballTalk on Wednesday.
Coughlin’s agent, Sandy Montag, also denied that any meeting took place.
“I do confirm that a meeting did not occur,” Montag said via email.
We do know the Pegulas supposedly met with the team behind current coach Rex Ryan’s back. The team’s win on Sunday probably helped ease a lot of the pressure and make the reports go away, at least for a bit, but Ryan’s position is likely still insecure unless he starts reeling off some wins.
