NFL GMs on Greg Hardy: ‘Nobody wants him’

Greg Hardy

If not for his laundry list of off-field issues, Greg Hardy would be one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. Instead, he is currently out of work — and it doesn’t sound like he is going to find any in the near feature.

ESPN’s Ed Werder spoke with several NFL general managers, and none of them had good things to say about Hardy. They commended Hardy’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, for reaching out to all 32 teams to inform them of Hardy’s extensive counseling efforts, but the general consensus is that it is not going to have an effect.

Another GM described Hardy has a “toxic” player and said he seems “desperate.”

While it would not be shocking if an equally desperate team offered Hardy a one-year deal with minimal guarantees, we all know why he has not been signed yet. In addition to the disturbing details that came out about his domestic violence case last year, Hardy was also reportedly a distraction in the Cowboys locker room. Even at 27, he simply isn’t worth the PR nightmare for most, if not all, NFL teams.
