NFL investigated Browns over Robert Griffin pregame throwing
The NFL has its share of rather silly rules. The Cleveland Browns were nearly hit with another of them on Thursday night.
Per the rulebook, a player on injured reserve cannot be doing anything on the field within 60 minutes of kickoff. Quarterback Robert Griffin III is on injured reserve and was throwing a few passes on the field before the game, prompting the NFL to launch an investigation to see if the Browns broke a rule.
#Browns Hue Jackson said they don't believe they broke rule w/ Griffin throwing pre-game, but will wait for #NFL investigation to conclude.

#Browns RG3 threw between about 7:00 and 7:15, which was more than 60 minutes before the game started. Therefore, no #NFL rule broken

By 7:15, #Browns RG3 was done throwing and shaking hands and posing for photos with servicemen

One wonders what the punishment for this would be had Griffin actually broken a rule. Given some of the shoddy rules interpretations in the past week, it’s probably best that they didn’t and couldn’t pursue this one.
