NFLPA files lawsuit to vacate Ezekiel Elliott suspension

Ezekiel Elliott Ohio

The NFLPA has taken preemptive action against the NFL in hopes of blocking Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension.

The union filed a lawsuit in district court in Texas that seeks to vacate any suspension of Elliott, if such a suspension is upheld by arbitrator Harold Henderson.

Elliott was suspended six games by the league for a violation of the personal conduct policy, and he filed an appeal. The appeal hearing took place this week from Tuesday-Thursday. Now it’s up to Henderson to make a decision.

The new petition is asking the US District Court in Texas to vacate the suspension if it’s upheld by Henderson. That would allow Elliott to play for the Dallas Cowboys until the matter is fully resolved in court.

This sort of move from the NFLPA was expected, but the surprise is they’ve already acted without even knowing the outcome of the appeal.

Another important development to emerge is that one NFL investigator reportedly recommended no suspension for Elliott and then was supposedly blocked from the punishment meeting with Roger Goodell.
