Odell Beckham prepared for Rams late hits; Jeff Fisher says they will not bait him

New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is prepared to be targeted by the Los Angeles Rams defense on Sunday, but the Rams insist they’re not going to go out of their way to try to agitate.

Beckham and the Rams do have some previous, as T.J. McDonald and Alec Ogletree seemed intent on riling Beckham up in 2014 when the two sides met.

“You protect yourself at all times,” Beckham told reporters, via Gregg Rosenthal of NFL Media. “I think that comes down to everybody in the game of football, refs, the NFL, everyone has to understand what’s at stake.

“You don’t need stuff like that to happen like what happened last time. You do expect it. I always say stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”

Rams coach Jeff Fisher, however, said the team has no specific plan to target Beckham or get him off his game.

“We’re going to play between the snap and the whistle, and that’s it,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said, via Alden Gonzalez of ESPN. “No, we’re not going there. Our guys are going to play hard and play fast, tackle, and have been instructed not to hurt the football team.”

Nobody has said they’re going to intentionally try to agitate Beckham, and it makes sense not to. That said, one rival had some very interesting reasons for not wanting his players to play mind games with the Giants receiver.
