Packers reportedly ‘holding out hope’ Aaron Rodgers can return this year

Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers won’t let go of their hope that they’ll see quarterback Aaron Rodgers under center again in 2017.

The Packers placed Rodgers on injured reserve on Friday, but according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the team is still “holding out hope” that their quarterback will be able to return for Week 15 — the earliest possible return date.

Demovsky admits that such a possibility is a “long shot,” but Green Bay is refusing to give up hope.

The Packers have given Rodgers a chance of returning, but he’ll be out for at least eight weeks. Even then, pretty much everything would have to go perfectly in his recovery to make this happen. There’s precedent for Rodgers coming back from a significant collarbone injury before the season ends, but even so, Week 15 is extremely optimistic, and we’ll be fortunate to see him at all this season.
