Packers working on deal to make Aaron Rodgers highest-paid in NFL history
Aaron Rodgers has exhibited plenty of patience when it comes to his contract status, and it seems like that will pay off.
The 34-year-old is signed through 2019 and set to make around $20 million each of the next two years. And though the Green Bay Packers have him for two more seasons, they don’t want to lose him. The two sides are working on a deal that would make the quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Aaron Rodgers and Packers are, in words of a source, “creeping along towards a deal.” Both sides still motivated to get it done, but one issue is this: Top-of-market deals always hard because there is no ceiling and this deal will make Rodgers highest-paid player in NFL history.

Rodgers’ contract status has been a topic throughout the offseason because he keeps getting surpassed in terms of pay by inferior quarterbacks who sign new deals. Rodgers has shown no signs of slowing down, so he would be well worth the investment of a big deal from Green Bay. The two-time league MVP has even said he is open to a non-traditional contract.
