Patrick Mahomes thinks Bill O’Brien is impressed with him

The love affair between Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien and quarterback Patrick Mahomes is real.

Mahomes admitted that he got the sense O’Brien was appreciative of his football IQ and personality when he took his private visit with the Texans.

“I feel like a lot of coaches like me, but especially coach O’Brien. I think my personality and how real I am, those are things beyond what I can do on the field that he likes,” Mahomes said, via Chase Goodbread of NFL.com. “It seemed like the way I was answering questions, I think he knew that I knew what was going on. You can tell when coaches have a confidence in you.”

Reports indicate that Mahomes’s sense was correct. The only question at this point is whether Mahomes will still be on the board when the Texans pick at No. 25. They’d probably have to trade up if they want to unite Mahomes with O’Brien for years to come.
