Report: Patriots, Rob Gronkowski close on reworked contract
Rob Gronkowski may be getting his way with the New England Patriots.
According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, the two sides are making progress on a new deal. Howe says it’s unclear whether Gronkowski will receive a raise or extension, but the important point is that he’ll be receiving a new deal.
Almost from the moment the Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, there was talk about Gronkowski potentially retiring. He stayed away from the team during OTAs and only confirmed last month that he would play in 2018.
Most of the reports and talk seemed to be evidence of Gronk seeking a new contract, and it looks like he will be made happy.
The 29-year-old was originally set to make $8 million in the upcoming season.
