Percy Harvin reportedly unlikely to play in 2016

Percy Harvin

Have we seen the last of Percy Harvin’s days on the gridiron?

According to a report by Peter Schrager of FOX Sports on Friday, though the free agent wide receiver has attracted some interest from NFL teams this offseason, it is “unlikely” that Harvin will be playing football in 2016.

Harvin is still just 27 years old, but persistent knee and hip injuries have limited him to just 28 of a possible 80 games in the last five seasons. He had just 19 receptions for 218 yards and one touchdown in five appearances last year for the Bills, his fourth NFL team since 2012.

We heard rumors just a few months ago that Harvin was considering retirement, and things clearly did not work out for him in Buffalo last season on a variety of fronts.

Harvin has also struggled in the past with frustration over his role on offense and feelings of isolation from his own teammates.

The former Florida Gator has always been an enormously pass catcher and runner. But now with his laundry list of woes beginning to pile up, this could be the part where Harvin looks long and hard at his NFL career and simply says, “Enough is enough.”
