Pete Carroll says Thomas Rawls will be ready for season opener

Thomas-Rawls

Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls has yet to see game action since fracturing his ankle last December. But it looks like that will change in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on Wednesday that Rawls will sit out his third consecutive preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday but will play in Seattle’s season opener in two-and-a-half weeks, per Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN Seattle.

Rawls, 23, busted out in his rookie season last year, rushing for 830 yards and four touchdowns as the team’s starter after Marshawn Lynch went down. But a broken ankle suffered in Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens cut his promising campaign short.

Now that Lynch is retired, Rawls will enter his first full season as the Seahawks’ starting running back. While Rawls could get pushed by Christine Michael, who has been having a mammoth training camp and preseason, he looks like the clear-cut alpha in the Seattle backfield for the time being.
