Peyton Manning has funny response to private conversation with Belichick

Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning had a funny response Thursday to the story that blew up this week of him telling Bill Belichick this might be his final season.

In a video shared by NFL Media, the contents of the conversation the Denver Broncos quarterback shared with the New England Patriots head coach were revealed. Manning told Belichick that this season “might be my last rodeo” (video here).

On Thursday, Manning was asked about the “rodeo” comments.

“I don’t know if it’s been confirmed,” Manning joked. “What happened to private conversations on the 50-yard line? I guess they just don’t exist anymore. No confirmation on that whatsoever.”

Manning then broke out his best Belichick impression.

“We are on to Carolina,” he joked.

Manning is 39 and endured the worst statistical season of his career. There is little doubt he heard all the critics who ripped his play. If he’s able to win the Super Bowl, he would have to give strong consideration to walking out on top of the game like his boss, John Elway.
