Peyton Manning will be interviewed as part of NFL Al Jazeera probe
Peyton Manning will be subject to an NFL interview over his mention in the Al Jazeera PED documentary.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk that all players named in the documentary will be interviewed by the league, including the retired Manning.
There are plenty of reasons to do this, even if the NFL can’t really do anything to Manning if they find wrongdoing. First, he was playing when the report broke and the alleged wrongdoing took place during his playing career, so in the interest of transparency and completeness, he simply must be interviewed. In addition, Manning could return to the NFL in an executive role of some sort in the future, and he will not want the allegations hanging over his head if he does.
The NFL will be interviewing the other implicated players at the start of training camp. One of them has some conditions if they want him to talk, though.
