Phil Taylor visits Steelers day after being cut by Browns

Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor may be on his way to playing for a rival.

A day after the former first-round pick was cut by the Cleveland Browns, Taylor visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers. CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports that as many as eight teams have interest in the Baylor product.

Taylor was the No. 21 overall pick in 2011 and signed for a $4.38 million bonus. His base salary of $5.47 million this season became guaranteed in March, and the Browns owe him that despite making him part of their first round of cuts.

Cleveland feels like they have enough depth at DT to let Taylor go. They now have No. 12 overall pick Danny Shelton at nose tackle and felt comfortable cutting Taylor, who is coming off multiple knee surgeries.
