Philly DA reportedly pushing back on charges for LeSean McCoy

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s office reportedly is pushing back on filing charges against LeSean McCoy and members of his group for their alleged assault of off-duty police officers at a club.

Reports had said that an arrest warrant was expected to be coming for McCoy and his friends for the assault that took place on Feb. 7, but that has not materialized yet. The Buffalo News reported on Wednesday night that the DA’s office was expected to have a press conference Thursday or Friday to announce their intentions about the matter. That still has not happened.

The reason, according to CSN Philly’s John Gonzalez, is because there is tension between the DA’s office and the police. The DA’s office reportedly is hesitant to issue warrants because they question the conduct of the three off-duty police officers. They reportedly wonder if the off-duty officers were drinking to excess and point out that the officers did not call 9-1-1.

A fight between McCoy and his three friends broke out with the three off-duty officers at Recess Lounge over the ownership of a bottle of champagne. Two of the off-duty officers were hospitalized, with one suffering a broken nose and broken ribs.

One of the defense attorneys for McCoy says his client “did nothing wrong.
