Police raid home of former LB who threatened Cowboys over not drafting him

Jerry Jones

A former college football player had his house raided this week after he allegedly threatened members of the Dallas Cowboys organization over the team not drafting him.

Police in Melbourne, Fla. confirmed to TMZ that the SWAT team raided the home of Keyon Reed, who last played linebacker at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga in 2012. The 26-year-old is said to have “called members of the Dallas Cowboys and was telling them they needed to sign him.” The players who spoke with police said Reed was threatening to harm people if the Cowboys did not sign him. Here’s more:

When cops arrived to Reed’s home, Reed allegedly fessed up to making the threats — including telling Cowboys employees he was going to “f*** their wife.”

Reed explained he was “frustrated they wouldn’t ‘show him the real money’ and sign him to a contract.”

Cops ultimately determined Reed was not an imminent threat and he was not arrested.

It sounds like Reed is fortunate he was not arrested, as TMZ notes this is not his first time getting in trouble with the law. Police records show he was arrested for assaulting an officer back in 2013. We saw a frightening incident recently involving threats made on an NFL’s star’s social media page, and those were taken very seriously.
