Prince Shembo’s girlfriend Denicia Williams says Shembo was jealous of dog
Former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo was arrested in April and charged with animal cruelty after he allegedly kicked and killed his ex-girlfriend’s dog. Believe it or not, his motive may have been jealousy.
Denicia Williams, who is suing Shembo for killing the Yorkshire terrier, says she believes Shembo planned to beat her dog because he was jealous of her relationship with the pet.
“He said you were spending too much time with him and I felt second to him,” Williams told Kevin Rowson of WXIA in Atlanta.
Shembo claimed he kicked the dog because it bit him.
“He was not jealous of any dog,” Shembo’s attorney William Cromwell said. “What caused the dog’s injuries was that the dog bit him.”
Williams does not buy that story.
“If he did bite him, why didn’t he tell me that when he confessed?” Williams said. “Why didn’t he say, ‘Dior bit me and I reflexed by kicking him, and I’m sorry?'”
Shembo passed through waivers on Tuesday and is now a free agent. If you remember, Shembo is also the former Notre Dame player who was accused of raping a woman who later committed suicide. He’s only 23, but any team that signs him would be taking on a lot of baggage.
