Rams offensive coordinator has praise for Jared Goff

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is hoping to take a step forward in his second NFL season, and one of his coaches is impressed with what he’s seen so far.

First-year offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur said Friday that Goff has been putting in extra hours and has the desire to be great.

“He wants to be great,” LaFleur said, via ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez. “He’s doing everything that we’ve asked him to do, and then some. He’s working hard every day. I think he’s getting better every day.

“He’s coming in early and staying late. He’s really grasped the offense surprisingly fast, especially for a new guy. When you get a new guy in an offense, there is a transition period with that, but he’s doing a nice job of picking it up at a surprisingly quick pace.”

Goff’s rookie season was nothing to write home about, with five touchdowns and seven interceptions in seven games. He has a lot to prove this year in a new offense, with rumors swirling that the Rams could sour on him if he doesn’t make some progress.
