Rams plan to rest starters in Week 17
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay told the media on Tuesday that he is planning to rest his starters for the team’s Week 17 game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
McVay shared his reasoning and said it was more important to get some players healthy/prevent injury than it is to have a higher seed in the playoffs.
Rams coach Sean McVay told the media in Thousand Oaks that he will probably rest his starters for the season finale against the 49ers. Getting guys healthy is more important than a 3 or a 4 seed, McVay said.

The Rams are currently the No. 3 seed in the NFC with an 11-4 record. They can’t catch the Eagles, who are 13-2. The Vikings, who are 12-3, hold a tiebreaker over the Rams thanks to a head-to-head win. That puts them in the No. 3 seed at best. They can only drop to No. 4 at worst because they will be a division champion.
The truth is teams in the NFC probably wouldn’t mind facing the Eagles, who are a completely different team with Nick Foles at QB instead of Carson Wentz. That probably plays a role in McVay not worrying about his team potentially dropping to the four seed.
